in my diary under WIXOM GROWER(chris)i did a demonstration on how i cross pollinate tomatoes. the reason im doing this is to encourage tomato growers to improve the genetics in our gaint tomatos. right now almost everyone out their is letting mother nature do their polinating for them. all you see on the pollination board is either open pollinated, or self pollinated, so lets try and change that with cross pollinating.this is my method and understanding of how to do this, so i would love to here anyone's questions or input on this meathod. hope that we start crossing tomatoes
in 2015 chris

Im a bit of a newbie to this to, but you really cant see the pollin on a tomato flower ! I read that you with the tomato that you are going to pollinate, that you wont to cut off the anther cone the first day it opens or half way open. At this point the pollin suposenly is not ready and should not self pollinate while you remove it. My understanding is the pollin from the donor should be open for about two days for the pollin to be ready. But dont forget the pollin is only on the inside of the anther cone. Their is no pollin on the outside of it. That is the trick because you really cant see the pollin

This tutorial on You Tube taught me what I needed to do ans as a resultI have had successful crosses. This video is short, to the point and is very easy to follow and will assist anyone in learning how to cross pollinate.

You can cross any tomato strain with any other tomato strain.

In our section of growing I'm thinking about crossing an earlier non world record Mc Coy with a potato leaf Big Zac.

Another one would be a Boudyo with a 7.33 Hunt.

A gentleman from the UK named Micheal Johnson has successfully crossed a large red potato leaf strain and a Big Zac. I believe he is now on F4 or 5 this coming season with it. I have requested some seeds so I trust I'll get them.
