Hi everyone!!!!

As you are well aware, May is screaming towards us at lightening speed, who here has planted yet?

I have studied the forecast for the next two weeks for my area and I'm feeling rather safe planting out beginning Saturday or Sunday.

So if you do have your plants in, when did you plant them??

If not when are you planning on planting??

Just planted my competition tomatoes today ! I figured that their is plenty of summer to grow them ! This will be the latest start i have ever had ! I guess i will find out if their is any advantage to not having them root bound in pots ?

I started mine last weekend and will have them in the ground by 3rd week in may, maybe sooner if weather looks good.like wixom said I like to start later and put small plants into the ground.they will catch right up in the warmer soil.the other advantage is they go outside right away.no grow lights are really needed.
I might start a couple in June for a weigh off.

I am planning on putting them out either today or tomorrow as well. They are getting to big to hold off anymore. The temps here have been in the 60-70's for the past two weeks and will be getting into the 80's in the next couple weeks. Plus I am having some withdrawal...I need to get my hands dirty!!

I planted a couple of plants 2 weeks ago and the other 3 this week. I have plated 2 Copia tomatoes, a Golden Giant Dixie tomato, a Hillbilly tomato, and an Omar's Lebanese tomato. This is the first time I have grown any of these varieties. Has anyone grown these before?

I always liked the hilbilly, a medium large tricolor tomato lower acidic flavor

All of my eaters & Giants are still inside.
I am starting to cut the stems of my scions on my approach grafts.
Another week & they will be ready to plant out...and the soil will be that much warmer.
COPIA is tasty as is Hillbilly. Omar's Lebanese is quite large, you could almost use it in competition although I don't remember any megablooms with it. Dixie Golden Giant was just OK.

I buckled down & transplanted 13 Giants out into the garden yesterday.
Supposed to be a 60% chance Sat & Sun, but I have tarps over one of my beds & it is raised so maybe I'll get some more out this weekend.

Our 1st two seeds are breaking through the dirt this morning. I expect the 1st batch to be all germinated by the end of the weekend. Our 2nd batch of seeds will be started on Sun/Mon & the last batch will be planted @ the 1st of June. If everything goes well we should have 12-16 plants this season. Good luck all.
