Last year was the first year I put my plants in when they were small.. Maybe 6"... No stretching at all.. I had megas on the first truss on all but one plant.. (None of them took of course cuz the ol lady wouldn't let me use her toothbrush).. This year my plants got a little stretched and I ended up burying in a ditch.. Maybe 10" of the plant below ground.. No early megas...anyone else put bigger plants in AND get megas early?(first truss).. I'm wondering if there's a correlation...(also on a side note, anyone besides Dan have any good megas on the zaczillas?.. I can't buy one !!)

Very interesting.

My plants were all approx. eight inches when I transplanted.

Out of those 26 plants I had approx. 12 plants with mega's on the first truss.

I have had very good luck NOT stretching my plants prior to transplanting.
I have a decent tomato growing from a triple fused bloom on one of three Zaczilla plants.

The tomato is very dense which equals weight. With that being said it's not going to be a monster by any stretch but it will weigh in decently.

I haven't taken a photo and posted it on my diary page yet but I will.

I do agree with you Porkchop on Zaczilla being stingy with mega bloom production.

It's just not producing mega blooms like a Big Zac does.

On that subject. My hopes are really pinned on my six fused bloomed tomato named Trinity on one of my 4.46 Diehl plants.

The bloom was on the third truss but with a mega bloom like that your happy anyway.

This year i planted real late ! I planted my seeds may 1-10 the last ones were replants for those that did not come up. I found out of 30 plants that around 25 had a nice mega bloom on the first truss. Im finding that the first truss tends to give the bigest mega blooms and after that they tend to not get as big.i also found that the monster size mega blooms are much harder to pollinate sucsesfully half abort and some divided into 2 tomatoes and became useless.i have about 5 good keepers right now and see many decent ones still out their. My zaczilla started with a nice maga bloom on the first truss but after that they are mostley singels. But i do have a nice double one on a lower branch that looks promicing and if it takes i may prune my plant for that branch to become the new leader. So far my steak house was the easyest one to grow. Right now i highly recomend that everyone try it next year. I have plenty of mega blooms on mine and pollinated easy too.
