Last year I read somewhere about seeding tomatoes in water but don't remember the directions? If anyone has done this please post directions below.
Thanks!

Seeding or saving?

This has worked for me but there is probably several different ways. If it is saving seeds from your tomato, I cut the tomato in half, scoop out the inside into a larger pyrex glass bowl, add about a cut of water, stir with a fork, saran wrap on top with a small hole, stir once a day. It starts to ferment, white growth on top, usually in the warmth of a house. After three days pour it into a strainer that strains smaller than the seeds, use a rubber spatula to scrape through the pulp. You will have seeds left without the gel covering. Do not let it ferment more than 3 days or it will rot and smell! And probably ruin the seeds.

..Oh, then I put the seeds on a plate and let dry for a couple of weeks.

I do about the same but only scoop out the seed locules..add just as much water as gunk ...after 3-5 days slowy fill w water..gunk wil float.. Dump gunk..the good seeds will sink to the bottom.. from there fill with water , slowly pour (seeds stay on bottom...fill again.. Pour...repeat until waTer is clean then strain.. Like panning for gold if ya ask me...I also use jar with lid loose.. My wife has enough fruit fly traps around...(if your talking about seeding in water I vote just use dirt )

Thanks everyone. Marty would hydrogen peroxide be the same as oxyclean?

I did the OxyClean method last year too, worked great and no more fermenting. I put a tsp of Oxy in a two cups of water with the tomato seeds with jelly coating. Let it sit for a couple hours, stirring a few times then rinse, strain and dry the seeds.

I just put them in water, sit it in a window, and it will ferment pretty quickly.
