Subject:  BER and Damaged Fruit?

Question for the growing community - Would this fruit be ruled DMG or a sound fruit? It had blossom end rot early on and had healed over with no leaks. As I read the GPC eligibility rules, this would be ruled as a sound fruit from my interpretation of the rules. I was curious as to what other fellow growers think about this. I have a nice fruit going that has some BER that i am hoping i get to heal over like this one but wasnt sure if it is even worth it because it would be damaged anyway. Let me know thanks!

I would say that it's good, as long as it was completely healed and dry and no soft spots.just my 2 cents worth.

I would say it's fine too.. If your calcium is good and you are watering evenly and are still getting bER.. Take my OL mans advice..."quit f-in touchin em"...

I don't think that is a calcium thing. Looks like areas that are expanding trying to heal over. That's probably how a megabloom Domingo grows(?). It probably doesn't know how to expand without tearing itself apart. Put a little sulphur powder on it and keep it dry.

thanks for the input fellas. I'll quit putting my d!ck beaters all over it and add some sulfur. If it doesn't heal over ill just scrap it but this is exactly what my other one did. Thanks again

This is called leathering and is sort of like a scar. The tomato is sound. Marv
