This tomato was grown from a small tomato that I grew for seed out of the 5.85 Boudyo, this small tomato was not even weighed, it was only to reproduce seed,so I'm not sure how to designate the parentage of the 8.61 world record.

The most important thing is we know it's a big Zac.so maybe Sutherland WR producer (big Zac)

5.85 Boudyo Big Zac = Sutherland Big Zac 2015 = Sutherland 8.61 Big Zac 2016.
New World Record!

The little tomato could be called Sutherland 2015 genetic cross Big Zac x open.

If you try to look up the genetics of the 8.61 pound tomato you will find that it was grown from a small tomato Sutherland grew from seed he obtained from a 5.85 Boudyo 2014. Fabrice grew this 5.85 from a 5.8 Osmala 2013 seed. Osmala grew her 5.8 2013 from an Osmala 4.37 grown in 2012. The Osmala 4.37 2012 was grown from her Osmala 3.24 which is listed nowhere. So we cannot be sure where the seed that grew the 8.61 pound winner this year came from unless Osmala can remember. Fabrice did not grow just Big Zac seeds so at this point the genetics are unknown. This just points out the importance of listing the actual variety of the seed. Again this year very few tomatoes listed in the GPC final list have this information included. The seed may well have been Big Zac but there is no way to know unless Osmala remembers and tells us. This could be more and more common in the future unless we keep good records. Osmala, how good is your recall?

I looked everywhere for the parentage of the Tuija Osmalo 5.8 pound tomato grown, as it turns out, in 2013. Tuija had pictures of the tomato in her growers diary and identifies its variety as Big Zac. So, the seed from the 8.61 pound tomato can, with certainty, be identified as:
8.61 Sunderland (BZ) 2016

Mystery solved, this time.

Oh, sorry I haven't been here for a long time... here is the story behind my 5.80 Osmala (BZ).... First there was my 3.24 Osmala BZ 2010 ( 7.18 Harp BZ x self )then my 3.24 grew my 4.37 Osmala BZ 2012 ( 3.24 Osmala BZ x self )and then my 4.37 Osmala BZ X self grew my 5.80 Osmala BZ in 2014.... then my 5.80 Osmala BZ grew the 5.85 Boudyo and the rest you all know :) Marv, you could ask how these things was directly from me at fb or by email.... lucky me that I saw this here, oh well
