Looking at the GPC results, if you include Boudyo, Fabric’s 8.36 in 2015, has anyone noticed how the biggest tomatoes almost every year are grown in approximately the same region? Would you have any idea’s why this is occurring?

Here is two links for a discussion about location of the biggest pumpkins. The first is for a map showing location and the second is the discussion.

From my recollection, it's called the golden zone...esp for AG's. Within a few degrees of the us/canadian border! It's sorta why melons are grown further south? Peace, Wayne

Maybe I need to explain myself better. We are looking at the best tomatoes every year are grown close together. The next year the best are still grown close together but thousands miles away from the previous years.

I think it's the cause of rotational axis combined with science...I will stake my plants at 13.5 degrees due north this season...(I did the math too...)..

I don't know if that's a coincidence or a real finding, Bill.
Whatever it is, hopefully it will land on southern Indiana this year!
And Porkchop, I got out my sliderule & I think the plants ought to be angled North by 12.6 degrees but the vine of course lowered to the ground once the megabloom sets!

I had 12.6 on the lower end of the equation...when I fiqured in longitude I got the 13.5 degrees...(scientifically speaking of course)

How much are degree's in KY? Do we get a discount at the weighoff for being different degrees? LOL Peace, Wayne

Thats not enough tilt porkchop! Your still off by 10°. you need to tilt your plants 23.5° that is the earths axis tilt!

I grow on a hill wixom...I believe the x slope variable in congruency with axis tilt would be well below the 23.5 degrees tilt equation...I don't really have time to explain the science...

Still waiting for scientific results on # of degrees in KY? Peace, Wayne
PS...please calculate into equation that I grown on approx. 8% slope running W to E.

Wayne you won't need to worry about it. After many calculations and using fuzzy math the tomato golden zone will be back to the upper Midwest. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. But then again I maybe off by 1000s of miles go ahead and plant as many as you want. May you and all other growers have a great year.

You need a sun sensor on your stake !!! A stake that can swivle !!! A stake that can point to the morning sun and follow the suns angle till sun set !!! If you cant keep up with the times you will fall behind!!! (0:

I hope you are right Bill...i am hoping the golden zone centers right above my garden. After all this scientific discussion...i need to build my rotating, swivel, sun tracking tomato pots....then again..maybe i will just put a few seeds in the dirt and hope for the golden zone.

Well i sent all these fuzzy numbers to trump tower and they told me that they came up with a formula 126 pages long, one page longer than the new trump care plan!!! He told me that this was the greatest tomato plan ever!!! He said that my tomato will be absolutely YOUDGE!!!!
