Has anyone grew the pumpkin tomato variety and the slankards tomato for competition use? If so how successful were you in the tomatoes.

Im trying a couple of slankards again this year. They are a large full round tomato. I grew a 3 pounder two years ago and marv meisner grew a 4.6 pounder. A while back. It doesn't put out many megablooms, tends to put out mostly single flowers so im not sure is it can compete well with the other gaint verieties but im looking at trying to cross them with big zac or other gaint verieties for a fuller tomato ?

I have grown Slankards in the past and will grow 3 plants this year. You have a good chance to get a big tomato but not a giant one. I doubt we will ever see one at the 5 pound mark. It was one of the varieties I have always grown and so I do it because I am sentimental. In the past I had high hopes for Slankard but since then reality has set in. But then again, who knows?
