Tomato time is here. Lots of growers out there with high hopes, me among them. Good luck to all on exceeding your personal best. Who will enter the 8 Pound Club this year, a really elite group of people? Will we see a 9 or 10 pounder? One never knows. Anyone want to make a prediction about where the heaviest tomato this year will be coming from? Will it be an as yet unknown grower or a well established one? Can Dan do it? Will Boudyo return? Let the fun begin!

Seems to be a lot more interest in tomato this year. Could it be the tomato challenge....lol. I haven't grown any giant tomato in a while and only make an effort a couple of times in the past, but will try this year. Lots of good growers out there so ave weights should up. Best of luck to all of you.

I planted a seedling from a 4.53 Wixom into a container on my porch. Two more plants to go. I did try Ron's "Wow Wallace Starter Packs" and placed two in the hole with my plant. I also tried this with my other tomatoes and they are loving them!! Thanks Ron!!

I fully expect Marv to make a showing near the top this year. He is way past due! I think Jack LaRue will pull off some big one's this year. Just hearing him talk last year at the Bauman's Farm weigh-off regarding his 7.19 was proof enough that he will put more effort into tomatoes this year. Growers are being more selective in their seed choices and techniques which will only increase top weights this year. Also look forward to the cheap entertainment from Wixom Chris, Q-Tip, and Porkchop's diaries from where I tap my encouragement from. Can Chris grow another fake 12 pounder? Can Porkchop ever get turned on again as he was in 2015? Will Q-Tips wife continue to poke fun at his tomato obsession? Mine still does and I finally realized it is her problem! Good luck to everyone!

I have seeds in the pots now, I can't wait for some mega blooms to appear. I hope to get new personal best this season. Be ok with me if it doubles my PB. Got Tomato Turbo on tap.
Good luck everyone!

I have a secret weapon this year. A seed that originally came from Timm that is a BZ offshoot that I have grown out until it is now F8, stable. It could be the next seed everyone desires if it produces this year. I have not seriously worked with it in the past as it went along. I was fixated on BZ through Boudyo. It produces a really big plant if you let it grow with lots of tomatoes in the near 4 pound range. Not proven enough to give out yet but good enough to give me some excitement. This seed is not through the Boudyo line everyone is fixated on now. It is sort of new. I have named it "High Hopes." Stay tuned.

I planted three Big Zac tomato early (seeds from the past) two plts went into 30 gal plastic garbage barrels and one went into a 5 gal bucket. Two of the 3 plts now have megablooms on them. The one in the 5 gal bucket has the biggest megabloom. How big will they get is another question. Nice blooms, maybe I can get over 4 lbs and get excited..lol. Will post pic in dairy.

Sometimes, megablooms can start out mega, lets hope the whole magabloom is pollinated. It can be disappointing when the whole thing isn't completely pollinated. Time will tell. Good luck jlindley with all of them. I would be happy with 5 or 6 also.

Marv, "High Hopes" gives you some excitment! It should, it sounds great. Hope it turns out great. I am sure it will excite everyone else also.

it is from the seeds that I originally got from Minnie Zaccaria. All three are from those seeds. Now I have others planted that I got from the auctions but they are not yet ready to do anything as they are younger plants. I am not sure the whole bloom got pollinated as it was really tight. It is low on the plant and I have to stand on my head to know for sure and I haven't done that yet. A little time will tell.
