Is anyone recording fruit size and weight?
The estimating charts are not really exact.
I would be interesset in statistical dispersion.

This chart is prety accurate for a rounded tomato like the one you have.the problem with gaint tomatoes is that they become very irregular and that make it very difficult to make a chart to calculate the weight for those kind of tomatoes.

If you take the 3 different dimensions you can get a pretty accurate weight even with odd shaped tomatoes, to a certain extent anyway.

What do you do dan take 3 different measurements and then divide by 3 to get an average ?

No,you take .00056xcc1xcc2xcc3 equals weight,on my tomatoes it more accurate to multiply by.00055 ,it's been very close for my tomatoes.

That's a cool formula Dan!
The diameter 1 way x the diameter 2nd way x circumference x .00055 = weight.
d20" x d21" x circ 22" x .00055= 5.082 lbs. My 6.23 Megazac measures this. If it were true it would be over 5 lbs! I would of expected a diameter of 24" to be 5 lbs so I will go with that. Don't want to get my hopes up yet. It is a chunk so you never know.

Don't you mean circumference rather than diameter?

Yes,circumference, measure all three.

In between rain showers I have been trying to measure the three ways on the tomatoes that i can get a tape to in all directions. As I start to pick them, it will be interesting to see how accurate this is. If it is accurate it could change how I evaluate the various tomato shapes and the shape of the mega blossoms. Thanks Dan for the formula.

Garden Rebel i hope that you haven't been cutting your tomatoes in half to get the diameter ??? Lol....(0:

I meant circumference, not diameter. Math..

I cut a couple of baby 3 lbs tomatoes today. Using this formula they were both just shy of 1/10th of a pound under on the scale so pretty accurate.
