For me, if I’m having trouble with the soil drying out to quick...where your at I guess if it were getting into the hot season I might mulch with loose straw to help keep the ground cool...they don’t like wet or humid straw though..ya really can’t go wrong w compost top dress...watered in w wow tea...mmmm...quick splash of dunkles...I’m getting hungry...wish it wasn’t snowing...

Grass clippings work well for mulch. Keeps the weeds down, soil moist and cool. Keeps adding nutrients to soil as they break down.
