Last year I used 8 foot 5/8 Inch poles. The kept the plants upright but not ideal. It was hard to hammock the growing fruit. This year I am going for tomato cages sold by homedepot for 4.57 each. For 120 plant it will be about $600 with tax. Hopefully will be easier to support 4+ pound fruit.

First, not worried about your plants, only you lol. I use those green plastic coated 6' poles at most garden stores. Cheap. I tie them using green tomato tape or similar. Hammocking can be a challenge. I use 2-3 other poles and put them in the ground near the tomato. Tie the hammock to those. This is what I do.

I use wire mesh 6"x6" openings strong wont collapse and easy to tie hamic suports too. Just weave plant through it as it grows and no tieing needed except for hamic suports.

I've always used single stakes, but am using cages like bnot this year in hopes I'll actually have to hammock something...

I drive three 6 foot tomato stakes spaced out like a triangle around each plant.
I can tie each plant in a web of jute twine for support.
Easy to hammock between stakes.

T-posts. We use one at each plant. They have holes the whole length of them so you can tie up your plant to it as it continues to grow. Once the mater has been chosen, then we can use the holes in the t-post to tie the growing fruit to, without it falling over from too much weight.

I’m thinking field fencing suspended from the greenhouse guy-wires.

Bnot, Are you getting a bulk rate from Home Depot for tomato cages? Today I bought an emerald colored, an amethyst colored, and an sapphire colored tomato cage for 5.98 each for my 3 5.56 Mega Zac tomato plants. The plain cage was also 5.98.

I'll be putting a photo of my tomato cages in my grower diary.

I haven't even started this years tomato plants. Just had topsoil brought in today. Last year I started June 10th after the hail storm. I just looked at home depots website for the price. Hopefully, next year plants from my seeds will be for sale home depot, thru bonnie plants from the recommendation of greenearthmedia. This is going to be a strange year...might be a 3 pounder i bring into gale woods.
