I've been searching for someone to make a 3d replica of my State record. so far I have a quote for $300 just to make the 3d rendering of it and get it ready to be 3D printed. I will keep you all updated as to whether or not I proceed with a 3d printer version of my 5.91.

I know there was a "replica"' made of Gordon Grahams world record tomato in the late 1970's. Unfortunately, It was not accurate, they made it look more normal. Interesting idea of getting an accurate replica of your personal bests. I am wondering how they map all the strange contours.

I'll CT scan my 5 lb'er when after weighing. Look in my diary for 2016, we 3d printed tomato roots. The fruit should be a piece of cake!

The 3D replica was nothing like the real tomato grown by Gordon Graham, not even close. Some artist just made a tomato that was the dimensions of the original but round. The actual tomato was a conglomeration of 5 tomatoes grown into one, a big megablossom for sure. Even the color of the replica was not right. The real tomato was a dark red. The weight of the replica was pretty close. I had the replica for awhile but sent it to Gordon's wife as it seemed appropriate to do so. Miracle Grow had sent it to me. Later they wanted it back but I no longer had it.

yeah, it is looking more likely to go the plaster way. sadly. I really like 3D printing and high tech stuff but they are not being reasonable on price!

Brett, you are first I have seen here trying aquaponics for giant tomatoes. It is off topic but I am curious..can you modify the tomato nutrients by what you feed the fish. There are two huge aquaponic grow setups here in the minneapolis area. They are looking for best return on combination of fish harvest and vegetable harvest. If you just focus on best of one..what is possible.

I'm not sure how much I can change the nutrient content by changing what I feed them. They are on a high protein diet. They need to be on that so they grow fast. I have to get them from fingerling to around a pound in 6 months. The only safe way I have seen to add nutrients is to use liquid seaweed. The PH is about the only thing I have control over.
