No luck with the ribbon ones. Are the best usually the cluster ones or do the ribbon ones produce great tomatoes just as often? Thanks.

Ribbons are uncommon but for me i had good luck with both on my megazacs. I haven't had luck on the bigzacs but thats just me.

I am good at getting plants to go ribbon. I don't know if I do better with them or not. I just like the way they look. To get a ribbon..give the plant a good shot of P&K right before 1st truss forms. It makes the plant go haywire...and things fuse. If you already have high PK in your soil..you don't have to do anything..they will happen naturally. The problem with the PK shot...in soil...you are not going to get rid of it soon. Your foliage will be messed up for many weeks.

Thanks bnot. I think maybe I will try something like that I think I need to get my nitrogen down and calcium and magnesium up. Just a hunch. Maybe everything up way high but nitrogen normal. Thanks.

Actually my potassium is high also but I think they will still set fruit under high K but did you lose any blossoms with high N... ? I think I have...

I personally have never grown with high N. I am not sure how that would affect my special sauce. Going to experiment tonight...give my best guess dosage to a few plants (maybe 3) that havent shown much on 1st or 2nd truss. With rain forecast for tomorrow might have to reapply on Friday if it heavy enough to flush the ground. If the plants survive (5 % chance)and do something interesting I will let you know.

If you have to much nitrogen the flower buds may stop growing and not bloom or turn yellow and fall off and you will end up with a nice plant !!!

Yep... a water and calcium diet now sobering them up...
Which seems to be working.

Bnot maybe try to zone feed so some of the roots are out of the way then the plant can get water AND a heavy dose of whatever.
Like put the fertilizer just in one spot near the plant so the plant can get it at a high concentration but you dont burn the whole plant down. Just an idea.

I don’t want to use zone feeding. The theory of nutrient OD is to force the plant to react to an extreme condition. I do not want the plant to have the option to choose to avoid the extreme condition. So far I have tried only in small containers. 13 gallon hydro 15 gallon soil. The dosage I gave the plants last night should have the curled the top in the small container. In the open garden does not seem to have affected the plant. Will up the dosage Friday or Saturday.
