How many of you think Dan's 8.48 pound tomato will hold up as biggest of the year? Who do you think has a real chance of besting it? If I was a betting person, I would go with Dan. How ironic is it that the first big tomato of the year would be over 8 pounds? Who out there believes they have a chance of knocking Dan out of number 1? How many 8 pounders will there be this year? Got to go fertilize my tomato plants. Since Dan's biggie I will be fertilizing every day.

I’m just trying to beat my personal best.
Any of the veteran growers have a chance.
Except Qtip.
He’s not starting his until December.

Someone will beat it. 10 lbs is happening sooner rather than later IMO. Growing practices are always evolving & it's those that stay ridgid with their gardening techniques that get left behind. Multiple 8 lbers this year I hope

With the consistency that dan has at growing 7-8 pounders the last 3 years has me beleiving that 10 pounds is very dueable !!!

Absolutely Wixom.
It wasn’t too long ago that the watermelon growers were seeking the first 300 lber.
Now they are looking for 400.
Same with the pumpkin growers.
It used to be first to 2000.
Now it’s 3000.
Makes you wonder if grafting is where the first 10 lber will come from.
I think 7-8 lbs will become normal from the veteran growers.

ESheel, what form of graft and from what variety is the real question?

I am pretty sure the real McCoy has something up his sleeve..not the from the Q-Tip, but from the 5.07 Boudyo. Oh, the Q-Tip he's growing will be big, but Dan hasn't shown any update from his massive 5.07 Boudyo since July 8th. He is holding his cards close. He will throw down an 8 pounder + this year.

Three 8 pound growers are still growing this year MacCoy, Porkchop and I am sure Dan S has another on the vine. Still plenty of growers that have pb of over 7 pounds still to show what they grow this year. And 3 of the growers that grew 8 pounds bypassed the 7’s and went from 4,5 or 6 straight to eight. We should have a few eight pounders this year. It is possible the biggest of the year is not even set yet.
