Wixom MI.

What do you think the weight gain on a tomato is from the fist flash of color to complete red is ??? I here anywhere from 0 to one pound !!! What do you think !!!

Good question wixom, When i first started growing tomatoes..I kept hearing that the time weigh them was when they were 1/2 red. It the last few years, it seems that it has moving more towards weigh them red, but before they are overripe to the point of leaking. One winter grow i tried to grow a tomato on a scale..my placement was wrong and I never got any information.

Maybe this year, someone will try to connect a fish scale to the tomato hammock and find out what is happening between flash and leaking

Measuring the tomato at flash andmeasuring it again at red will help in information too !!!

I picked mine at partially red and it weighed 3.09. It’s been in the fridge and I weigh it every few days and it keep losing but not much. Still not completely red yet.

I normaly would do it myself but some criter has been atacking my eating tomatoes as soon as they flash so i can't leave mine on long enough to turn red !!!
