Loving your DWC buckets! 13 gal is plenty big, and the MH lighting has had the best results for me so far, in comparison to LED or HPS. I think you're set up to do really well

Thanks Hayden...it feels good to be thinking about growing as compared to thinking about everything else. This is going to be a boring year from my basement...really don't have a chance to be creative. Wait for next year. I am really impressed with what Zowie at EcoGardens has going. Most grow stores struggle to have a decent cherry tomato plant. Zowie is already over a pound and pushing for more. The plant he has in his tent is very big for a tomato. For an indoor tomato it is quite impressive for this being his first try. Total root area is very small. He now has giant tomato plants all over. I think someone is becoming hooked.

Hayden..looks like you have some things happening too...is your last diary post, of the 5.95. Wixom needs some of your pollen. I hope Pumpkinman Dan is figuring out the edema problem. I am also keeping on eye on Howiee. He could be a late season weigher. Glenomkins is conceding with 90 days left...and I havent even started yet. Wondering if it is easier to grow indoors in Arizona than outdoors,go Sandkin. Who am I missing..oooh Henry! I am going to be watching your progress closely. Am I missing anyone else?

Lol I have problems but I have cotyledons. One of my problems is I am not a tomato addict. But anyhow I will put it under the 300 watt led just for heck of it ok?

Go for it Glenomkins....the biggest thing needed to grow a tomato fast is heat. Checking my grow room, it is at 73 degrees lights off and about 80 degrees lights on. Last year, I proved to myself that January 1st was still possible to start.

I see that materdoc has tomato plants growing now too. That could be an interesting cross - Brutus Magnum and MegaZac. Wonder what the crosses name will be? I just restarted Brutus Magnum seeds, still wanting to get a cross with the Delicious to make the DelBrut.

It will be up to Materdoc to name it if he is successful. MegaBrute is not bad but he can get creative too. Maybe MegaZBrut...or...something totally off the wall. It will have 3 varieties mixed Brutus Magnum 50%, MegaMarv 25% and Big Zac 25%. The Megamutt is MegaMarv 50%, Big Zac 25% and Domingo 25%. Materdoc's cross will be equal muttiness (is this a word). I hope he is gets it done...I would like to try the combination. I have grown both Brutus Magnum, very strong early growth and very dense fruit...and also the MegaZac, very aggressive plant, late season blight resistance, etc. The best traits of both could be very good. Before spring, we need to get a cross competition together. So far..only GardenRebel has a successful one.

To answer your email James, sorry, I am 2 months behind on answering emails...Your seeds from the Megamutt will be fine. I think seed size is dependent on the size of the tomato, the time it has to ripen and plant size and root area. The genetics are there. Small seeds might delay your growth by a few days, but throughout the season you will not notice a difference. Grow them out..the megamutt is so low in F number that need to see a few growing out. I also have had two other growers in Spain ask me for seeds. In the next few months, I will be sending them over there. Imagine...megamutt plants being grown by 3 growers in Spain...wonder who will be the biggest. For everyone else...i have a list of all the seed requests...I promise to send them all out before spring.

I'd like to try to grow some of Materdoc's Megabrute seeds this spring along with Bnot's DelBrut seeds.

Mendi was not one that asked for seeds. But I have his address, maybe I should send him some tomato seeds in thanks for the 1875 seeds that he sent me last year. When I have pumpkin grow space..that seed is seeing dirt. I wonder if he would grow tomatoes.

Does Mendi live in France?

Ruben Mendi is is Spain. I contacted him thru email. He is going to be growing tomatoes this summer. He has some Boudyo seeds and I am going to send him some of mine. I think that he will do very good. The competition in Europe is getting more difficult.
