I always just lurk here. But now I have a question. I have been looking everywhere for seeds from some of the biggest tomatoes to try. I cannot find any seeds from these Sunterland tomatoes, many of them world record. Always there have been seeds available for sale from the biggest tomatoes. Some have even been free. But I must not be loking in the right place. Also I have not been able to find any advice from this grower to help me grow bigger. What am I missing. You guys here are great. Always seeds and advice. Very helpful here with lots of free advice.

He does not give or sell his seeds, that I'm aware, to anyone on this site. There are plenty of other great seeds out there from people willing to give them away. Dan Sutherland's success is more about his location and techniques, not necessarily his seeds. That includes everyone, although genetics play a big part. God luck!

Good luck trying to get seeds. He just won't sell or give them out to any growers. Tried to get some for our club fundraiser, but no dice.

Fortunately --agree with Rebel-- although yes his seeds would make great auction items, the genetic he is using are available. Its unlikely he has a unique lock on special genetics. The key is to grow many multiple plants in a highly -ideal manner.

Good luck with Dan S seeds. I am one of his closest friends and I do not have access to them. I feel it does not matter...the genetics are still available. He is not growing any genetics that other growers do not have. His techniques and focused grower attitude is hard to duplicate. I keep telling myself...two years...i am going to be in a situation to challenge him. Grrrr, wish he would not have left BP...I loved the winter challenge when he participated.

It is unfortunate that Dan cannot see his way clear to share some of the seeds from his world record tomatoes and to publicly declare some of his ideas on growing techniques. It is also unfortunate that he left this site because of what he must have felt was a personal attack. But, it is what it is. As far as the seeds, most of the genetics are available through some of the same seeds that Dan grew. Big Zac seeds F5 at least coming through Boudyo, Domingo (an heirloom), Delicious coming through Phil and Jane Hunt (also an heirloom and so now well stabilized), Brutus Magnum (heirloom grown for years and stable), some of the hybrids created from the preceding seeds and so on. Next year you will be able to get seeds from my then new world record via the GPC sales. Do what you can with what you have and use the best growing techniques known as outlined on this site by the growers who tell it all, even if there way is not the best way. lol

Uncanny, listen to all these great people here. As for advice, there is plenty in the forums. Get a copy of Marv's book, look over wixom's diary from a couple years ago when he did detailed entries. Seeds are generally available for the asking and you'll get the genetics to grow 8 pounds or more.

As for Dan, well, in my opinion he chose to remove himself from this community and you might as well forget about that. My only interaction with him was how much he loved to eat comfrey so I guess the secret to 10 pounds is to be a little crazy.

Marv, I am putting my money on you this year. I think you will have the best soil you have ever had. Cross you fingers that the weather cooperates. I think in a few years we will be wondering who will grow the first 20 pounder.

Maybe he doesn't have any or very few viable seeds per tomato because of the use of growth hormones.....did you ever think about that.
