It won’t be (too) long before starting up the tomatoes.

Soil is amended, the soil heating cables are in, manure about to put on the top with seaweed. A plan to start compost tea drenches soon in good time before planting. And seed line up nearly chosen.

But there are still bits on my list, improvements i’d like to make - thinking about keeping plants warm through early transplanting, should I start myco early, quality of tap water and how to improve it, should I think about Co2 etc?

Are you all prepped?

What’s left on the your list of things you’d like to get done to grow the big one this year? Things that - for you - will get you across the pb line once more?

I will be starting my eating tomatoes march 21 my ground is frozen solid so it will be a while before i can clean out last years crap. Started my peppers allready looking good so far. I may look into a solor panal that can run an airating pump to make tea on site. Started practice plants for grafting. Like to try this again this year.

This year I plan on growing most of my tomatoes under cover. One area will be under a shade cloth and the other area will be under a shade cloth with plastic as well to protect from heavy rain. I will be watering with drip lines and, if necessary, a watering can. This way, I will gain some control over rain and hot sun.

75 here today.
Just a tease as it’s going to be back in the lower 40s in a couple days.
Won’t be long.
I saw a black headed seagull today.
They are migratory and head south for the winter.
When they start coming back it isn’t long before the warm weather does as well.

All sounds good!

@Wixom - sounds good; Had a go at a lot of (normal) grafted toms last year. It was fun to try. More successful with side by side grafting as my heal room wasn’t all that, than full slice & dice. Also playing a lot with compost tea brewer currently, so here’s hoping.

@Marv - like it. Looks like it will give more control and interesting to see if the shade + ploy vs poly only was differences you can take advantage of in future seasons.

@Jane & Phil - feel ya. Cold and bright here, but it’s ice hail storm today. It’s definitely not tomato season yet!

@ESheel31 - fingers crossed the positive omens bring you a successful season.:) We’re all up for that warmer weather.

Thinking with compost tea here ahead of time, but still lots of mull over!
