I'm a newer grower, so I can only compare this one to my other Domingos this year. Is the 7.10 a wispy plant in general? I was trying to figure out what I did wrong but it seems healthy. Branches are nowhere as thick as my Domingos. Is this a bigzac thing?

The 7.10 Foss has been my favorite seed the last three years. It has grown my personal best of 6.06. The 6.06 also grew my largest last year. So anything grown from this genetics in my garden I get excited about. But I am learning that one seed that grows well in one growers garden may not do as well in another growers garden.

Chris Konieczny couldn’t care less about the 7.10 because traditionally Big Zacs don’t do as well in his garden. Everybody in the US has a unique climate and chemistry make up in their garden. One seed or variety may be totally dialed in to grow well in your garden. The 7.10 is that seed in my garden. It grows the largest plant, stems, and fruit. North Carolina and Oregon are totally different growing environments.

I agree with what garden rebel said different verieties grow different in different soils and climate. For me bigzacs and delicious verieties grow a much smaller plant than my megazac and Domingo plants.

Interesting! I also grew some Delicious and they are as wispy as the 7.10. With the 6.23 next to it they look like Laurel and Hardy. I'll save seed from the Foss and try it next year to see what happens. Kinda funny to think that the seed picks you.

Same here. I had big hopes for La Rue's 6.93? Delicious. I am sure it could grow a big tomato but the plant size is way different than two domingoes next to it...much more compact shape. Its hard to put as much faith in a plant that appears half as large but maybe size doesnt matter.

I seem to have better luck with Domingos here.
I think climate makes a difference, but I also think what your feeding program is makes a difference as well.
Big zac plants grow well here, but the fertilizer I give it doesn’t move the needle so much.
On the other hand, the Domingo plants I have are huge.
Bigger leaves,stems,and stalks.
Feeding the same fertilizer moves the needle a little more.
Same with the Delicious.
Plant looks good,green,wispy growth.
Not a single set on it.
Same feeding program.
