It's projected to be over 90 degrees for at least the next two weeks on the east coast, how often are you watering your tomatoes? Daily, every other...etc

Don't want to end up with Blossom End Rot...any ideas?

Pretending I am an expert... Dont put excessive potassium or ammonium during the early bloom. These can conflict with calcium uptake. I would add some calcium to the water and shade the plant but keep the airflow. I think bnot recommended calcium chloride foliar but rob not a good idea under hot sun.

Maybe not a good idea under full sun... I would never recommend adding a salt to your leaves under full sun.

I feel like the main thing with watering is to have the most healthy roots possible. Overwatering or underwatering will reduce some of your root function and that will reduce your mineral uptake. Sorry for so many posts just my 3 cents.

Mine are just starting to take hold and move..knee high or better. The ground suckers have shown up and we just got an 1” of rain...I won’t water unless dry when I stick my finger all the way in the soil....prolly every 4-5 days?... they can go a lot drier then you think. You got a nice one there kfrink. Good luck with that one!!

Consistently in the buckets 1 or 2x per week in the ground, smaller amounts of water seem to work better for me + if you think about it an 8 lb tomato is only 1 gallon of water

Yes , in buckets you still want watered/ dry watered/dry...like a day before wilting dry. Or less.if real sunny and hot I would move to the shade in the afternoons until we cool off...

I think ‘how best to ensure your plants aren’t stressed at 90f for a few weeks’ and how often to water your plants are two very different questions.

Watering covered in posts above but my 2 cents on the other - you can de-stress a plant on a hot day by allowing cooler nights if you can, to bring the 24 hour average temperature down. (easier done in a GH)

Also watch RH and or VPD and mist as you need to to - plants will suffer less water stress even at high temps if the humidity is there.

And of course shading itself,with something like shade netting, for hottest part of the day is no bad thing.

Thx guys ...the help is appreciated, plants are partially shaded half of the day from a Sunflower Row on one side, so I'll slow the watering to every 3-4 days...looking for 3+ lbs this year...
