I just saw GKins diary and he had a tomato with those little tumor like protuberances, just like the world record. I have never seen that before. What is it, anyone know why it is happening?

I dont have a clue, but it appears there was probably excess potassium in that spot based on the plant growth lately... The tomato was much smaller than it should have been... Maybe the nutrition wasnt so far off but the plant was neglected... au natural... unpruned.

My guess is, either intentionally or by accident, Mr. Sutherland has a way of pumping them up with both calcium and potassium so that they dont conflict with each other. Perhaps his soil has lots of available calcium and he foliar feeds with a potassium source like compost? Total speculation. They are antagonists and I dont know how to get the best of both worlds. I have read manganese helps regulate potassium. Just sharing what I know, which is a little bit, & certainly not enough.
