I do I start all my seeds on a growing moon IV started them both ways and they have always done better if I start them on a growing moon some old things and ways are still best

Saturday had been fine, but since yesterday it´s time for carrots and other root vegetables.
(times may differ for your place)

I know it´s not common.
I know it´s not working significantly for all crops,
but there are serious studies, showing it´s working for some.

New Moon or New Moon:
The Moon is not visualized because it is between the Sun and the Earth.
Ideal for root harvest.
Remove withered and dried leaves and flower buds.
It breaks the substrates obtaining more aerated and loose floors.
Decrease the amount of water in irrigation.
Weeding your crop by eliminating weeds.


Crescent:
Only half of the Moon is observed.
This period is considered conducive to sowing and planting plants whose edible parts are above the ground and bear fruit, such as tomatoes, peppers, peas, beans, etc.
Apply fertilizers and fertilizers with previous tillage of the soil.
Reduce the amount of water in irrigation.


Full moon or full moon:
The Earth is between the Sun and the Moon therefore it is visualized complete and well lit.
If you have crops whose fruits are edible, collect them, it is also the most favorable time to pick leafy vegetables.
Increase the amount of water in irrigation.
Transplant the crops that require it.
If you use liquid fertilizers, apply them at this stage.


Last quarter:
The other half of the moon is observed.
Sow the vegetables whose edible part grows underground (carrot, potato, onion, etc)
Fertilize crops with manure and remains of vegetable matter.
Apply organic insecticides, this phase is the most opportune to control pests.
Water without wetting the buds and flower buds.
It is suggested to carry out the grafts, transplants and pruning.

I am not one to follow the moon cycles when going about my gardening, I am lucky to get everything done as it is. I don't know if I could follow another set of rules and still get everything done. I don't doubt there is some truth to it though. The moon definitely has effects on things in nature. Have you ever noticed the first and last frosts typically happen on a full moon with clear skies. Can someone explain that to me. Is that also true in Europe? At some point though if carried too far, following the moon can become a type of superstition which might hinder your ability.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe I read somewhere that clear skies allow more of the heat in the air to rise allowing the lower air to get cooler.

If you can fully protect your plants it's not a bad time to start. Otherwise probably wait for the next full moon.

Udo grew an 8.01 pound tomato and I haven’t. If the moon phases is what he follows then it is worth consideration as far as I’m concerned. But, I don’t understand the science behind it. That is something I would want to know. Trying to connect a shadow on the moon to an 8 lb tomato. Hey, if it works then why not?
