Came across this, it seems relevant. Tis the season to start if you want to do the Dan Sutherland Method :) Aka start early and grow under a cover...my guess is Sutherland starts his in March based on how early he has weighed his tomatoes in the past. For the outdoor "Porkchop method" you will want to wait at least another month.
