How do you select 'the' matter to keep on a plant? What are the criteria or desirable attributes? Shape, position, weirdness, whatever? pkns are so much easier

Look at today's diary entry and comment on this one.
When it comes to giant matters, some are more ugly than others. So the questions are ,(a) is this a mega bloom or just ugly and is it worth growing or (b)should flatnorm select a more conventional looking one ?
