What is the best cantaloupe seed? I have some Edwards 50# and Gibson 50#. Have either grown anything big?

I don't know if there is a truely proven seed out there. I grew 2-50 Gibson's and 2-46.6 Westfall's in 09. All plants produced a melon that ripened within about a week of each other. Each plant had at least 1 other melon of similar size on it but not quite as large. Both Gibson's produced a melon just over 36 lbs and both Westfall's were about 40.
Plants were just and experiment that year.

21.3 Crosby I grew 2 plants and grow a 38 42 and a 55 on them best seed i think its more how much care you give the plant you can take the best seed and if it don't get the TLC they will not grow a big melon

How about the robb 64.8 ,robb 51.5 or schnicker 50,06 anyone growing them or have, i know one guy here has he sent me seeds but anyone else have luck with them, im new to this so i was wondering if like AGs there is some hot seeds that seem to do well first,second or so gen.or some other crosses that have been working that hasnt been brought up. treetop

I wish I had more 50.2 Schnicker or 49 Schnicker pounder seeds. I gave out most of them a couple years ago. I hope this year I can grow a few more to get my seed stash back up.

Have a good supply of the 64.8 WR and 51.5 Scott Robb seeds. Also have good supply of Schnicker 50.2 lb seed.

Kirk -- 64.8 is 1 seed, 51.5 is 3 seeds, and the 50.2 Snicker looks to be 3 @ $5

I think the best one I have grown is Marty's 50.2 (thanks Marty) It can grow a couple of 40's on one plant. And I haven't had any split. Only grown one on the 49, it when down early this year at 38lbs, and was still cruising along. There are some good gentics in this line.

JD - I'm a half a block. The longest east - west US highway (or used to be) - 1500 miles I believe. El Paso to Niagara Falls.

Wikipedia lists it at 2248 miles (though it shares parts with a couple other routes IIRC) - not a real straight path it takes !! says it was built in 1930 and some parts of it seem to still be original LOL.
