I think what he meant to say selfed? Pollinated with pollen from same plant.

sib means sibling when 2 plants of the same seed are grown and then crossed . Selfed is when you have only 1 plant .

Full brother or full sister; individuals with both parents in common. 2 plants of the same seed lot from the same fruit.

Scott, thinkin that Vic, had more than one 21.3 Crosby & did a controlled pollination on one of those plants, the one that produced the 55#er? In AG terms it makes a sib cross!! Peace, Wayne PS...hopefully Vic, will give us the full details!!! & tell us how hard it is to do a controlled pollinatination w/ a lope!!!

I wish everyone the best this year and the years to come. Records are meant to be broken and I'm sure 64.8 won't last forever. So have at it, enjoy the process and maybe someone will inspire me to grow them again. I haven't grown a lope since I broke the record in 2004.

Seeds I got from Ray Waterman, P&P Seeds. Ray told me they were out of a melon that weighed 30+pounds. I've heard of folks growing melons in the 70 pound range but weren't sound. So just like the pumpkin rule only sound fruit will be accepted.

Randy, I have searched a lil bit in KY, for state records on varying items, and seems to be no records are kept, not well at least.Until the GPC weighoff started. The state fair folks, seem to rotate positions frequently, and loose records from prior years. If you grow a big one...have it weighed on a certified scale, take lots of pic's w/fruit and weight both visible in photo, and have a Notary present!!! Grow em BIG!!! Peace, Wayne
