Randycat...I started that cantaloupe experiment a few days after x-mas.Thawed out a small plot, as I live at 1800 feet elevation and this ain't exactly Florida here. The plants have been in mini greenhouses with heat and lights as you see in the pics since early Feb. Not fair?? I don't see where you get that from, as this experiment was a lot of work to get a bloom this early. No offence intended, but I think you can do this in New York.

Lighten up guys -- this is supposed to be a fun thing and TT was just trying to do a few things to increase the interest and I'm sure he had other things planned as well -- I live in Texas and only have one plant going right now that is barely getting it's first true leaf (wound up breaking a couple others while removing the seed coat carelessly !) - so didn't have much chance in this one either but I'm glad to see the Pics of the plants others have going already and there is never going to be a way to run a contest and be fair to everyone so why sweat it.
We're just getting started (or will be fairly soon) so let's keep the competition what it was designed for and have some fun growing some Lopes.

treetop,
Could you spare a 50.2 Schnicker for an aging grower in need of some fire power?
