Just wanted to see if anyone else in the south or any where heat stress is a problem has noticed this. Ussually this time of year my lopes get really heat stressed no matter how much water I give them. I,ve been using CO2 on them this year and the plants seem to hold up alot better in hot weather. Less burned leaves. This was the only variable I could think of that might be making the difference.

Jake it's been very hot here .. the plants will totally lay down during the heat of the day.. not much chance of getting a big 1 here.. todays forecast 104 heat index 113..

The co2 seems to be great. Used it on my pumpkin this year & had very little burning. Like 90% less then in the past. Its got my vote from now on. Very little flagging on the lopes, even at 91. Kirk, Don't think anything would help at 104 !

co2 has helped here also, a bit...but w/ 18 days in a row above 90plus, and most of those day w/ 105 plus heat index, nothing I can do will seem to cut the HEAT!!! I now have two melons set...both short and ugly?? LOL and finally two Lopes set!!! Short & Ugly!!! Hopefully will have a Lope for BWF!!! See ya in Sept!!! Peace, Wayne

Agree not much you can do for 100+. Flat burnt my lopes to a crisp last year.
