Howes everyones Giant Lopes doing? Its been nearly 100 degrees evryday for two weeks now here in midwest Illinois and my patch is actually better than I thought it would be. I've got about 50 lopes the size of footballs down to an inch in size,,,the crop is doing very well just curious if you all are doing good with the heat or if the heat is affecting yours at this point and in what manner.

My plants are just about to set females. Lots of heat here and plants are fine.

Mine got heat stressed a little this weekend for about 2 days, but my patch thermometer read 112 saturday. If you keep them watered and spray CO2 or some calcarbonate product the plants will be fine up to 100. The lopes still gain good in hot temps but ripen early, so keep the fruit cool after 30 DAP. Good Luck

Holloway, thanks for the ripen early heads up!! I've gotta run hot wire now for deer. Too bad the lopes don't grow in November lol. Brotherdave mine are the same......... they had no problem setting fruit. These are "North Carolina" Type
