I've got Carolina Giants..when is the right time to pick them thats not too early but early enough so bugs won't damage them. I had a couple with bug damage underneath so I want to pick early but not too early ya know. I picked 6 last night from the patch at 84-85 days planted. I know theres a bunch of theories out there but was looking to here from a veteran grower who picks these for market to eat not for weighoffs even though I have a few I'm pushing the envelope on for weight. I'm not spraying.

OK.. so it was a stupid Question..crickets... lol, lol. I've checked these things twice today with the heat and picked lopes both times due to changing appearances( getting lighter in color) and odor. wingin it. lol

At the first signs of yellow. They will ripen fast. If its for market and you have a doubt, cut one open and sample it.
