I was reading the other posts and got to wondering if it would be worth using the seeds from a 25 pound lope that was grown from good seed, say a 46 pounder.Especially if there was a reason it didn't grow so big like disease, not enough water or other good reasons. Also wondering how much square feet do you give to each plant. Thanks Gene

Figure the genetics are only a part of the formula - a seed from a 25 lb. lope that has good genetics should be fine and produce good results if the proper care is given and it is in good soil - though in your examples of poor conditions you mention disease - was it a disease that can be spread into the seed ? (if so then I'd avoid it in order to avoid bringing any possible disease to your patch !)

Good example is the 16.2 Webb. It was an excellent cross, but the extreme heat that summer limited its grow. I grew 2-50+ pound lopes on the same 16.2 plant.
