We have 2 horses and plenty of manure.! horse can produce 50 pounds of the stuff each day I heard. From the barn to the garden it's about 50 yards,so I was looking for good ideas to make it as easy as possible to get finished manure in the garden.I usually make piles in the garden and just turn it over a couple times.Works pretty good, but can't hurt to look for new ideas.Only problem is lots of weeds, which I take care of easy enough with my favorite garden tool the 'action hoe'
thanks

Use the manure to make compost,,you can leaves,,straw,,a little of green, like gras clippins and make actuall compost ( google it ). Then spread in the spring. No grubs,,no weeds.

Thanks for the tips! Josh reminded me of something.I should also add that we bed the horses with wood shavings and so every week I get a wheel barrow full of urine soaked shavings.Would this be a good sorce of nitrogen? I think I'll take the advice from 'the cooks' and google it
Thanks

I use it too ,I find if you turn it more often ,it helps to reduce the amount of weed seeds you get, by reheating the pile. Hope this helps reduce the weeds. Terry

Horse manure is one of the best in terms of not having to letting it decompose. I put mine on the garden during our winters here in hawaii. I wouldnt put it on fresh root crops, but I hear its safe for most crops straight from the horse to the garden. My garden loves it! and its doesnt stink like cow manure or chicken.
