What's the best way to germinate cantaloupe seeds?

I like vermiculite moist in a covered dish on a heat mat around 83 degrees. I am doing some older seeds so germination rate is poor. The vigorous ones germinate in 4 to 5 days. The others take several more days, if they even pop.
