the main seed head on my best sunflower has very small weak seeds, but the sides have lot better seeds in,
will they be a better prospect for next year?.

I collect both the top and side and it seems not to matte. anyone else?

The side seeds will have opened at different times than the main head. So seeds genetics depend on what neighboring sunflowers were open . No telling which will be the best genetically but they are likely to be different.

thank you, I don't want to loose this type, there very bushy with a main head plus stacks of little flowers, I use them as a wind break
