How are you pollinating your sunflowers and corn, are they usually selfed . I haven't seen anyone mention mother/father I am just now thinking of growing them.

Usually "Open" pollination. I have never heard of anyone doing controlled crosses on sunflowers, and no one on tall corn unless your name is Pioneer or DeKalb :-)

Tall corn I grow in blocks and at least 100 feet away from other corn. Sunflowers I only grow big head and tall and I keep them about 100 feet away but I’m sure bees can mess that up.

My corn stalk would have been selfed but harvested it for the weigh-off. Just started to tassel. Was not shedding pollen yet. All other stalks were finished (dead).

Thank for the answers, I have seen Syngenta hand-pollinating corn, If any of you have corn or sunflower seeds for the Illinois club you can send an email baitman55@gmail.com
