There was some nice seeds being shared in the seed exchange this year and I was glad to be a part of it. I noticed some of the giant sunflowers are a thinner JET BLACK color and some of the other big ones were the traditional black and white striped ones. What are the different genetics of these. Are the striped ones in the Mammoth family... Black ones?

I sent in sunflowers from the 15'6" I believe they were all black. Typically most of what I grow if it's a large head will be multicolored with large seeds.

Ive noticed that too... a lot of variation. Good question.

The tall one's tend to be a solid black or solid white and usually a thinker and smaller seed. But some of the seeds are stripped too. If the seeds are fuller or fater stripped seed they are most likely to be large flowered seeds.
