i have something big. a big foaming stump, a really big leafy vine and a big hole in the main vine, and yet im still determined to grow a big pumpkin. i'll let you know at the end of May. i have something cooking..... just cant control it at the moment. but im sure whisky is going to make us kiwis proud. but as someone once said.... it aint over till the tailgate drops..... so anyone still growing has a shot, and there is still lots of time.

Know of one that will give the NZ record a good run for its money. Anyone else got anything big brewing?

I am pretty much game over. Plant just would not set fruit and now I am in a cast for next 6-10 weeks thinking about opening patch and let the sheep have a tidy up.

Sorry guys only one little one chugging along at present. Won't be a personal best for me. Sorry to hear your in a cast DARKY hope your on the mend soon. Not sure where I went wrong this season but plans are afoot for next season. May be the main vine damage early on that was the trouble. AB sounds good! Do you have a 30 day measurement?

Howdy all, my good early start has dropped right off. Both kins hit 30lb a day early on but one split at stem at 600lb it was a beauty 3 or 4 inches wide so ive cut it off and i'm back at day 3 with a new kin. 2nd kin around 800lb but vines looking tired. think i'll be lucky to go over a 1000lb this year but still 60 days till comp.

Hi John, numbers starting to drop off now, hit by a bit of PM. Can't take full credit for this pumpkin as more of a family effort this season. Pumpkin is looking good so hope it holds together.

last measurement was at 919 pounds I'll measure again tommoro to see if its still moving. Ive gotten so busy hardly spending any time in the patch still no weeds and little pm so hoping to go over 1000 now. scooped out 600 pounds off pumpkin poo yesterday I left my split one in there for a week or 2 just no time to move it turns out bad idea it collapsed to mush.

Seed is the 1725 Harp. Have not measured the plant but would guess about 600-800 square feet.

Sounds like your doing ok whisky, better then most. Will be interesting to see what Robbie from Taupo is going to produce this year. Not being on the internet, it is hard to catch up with him.

hey guys, got to day 30! have 2 kins on the 1 vine... the vine has issues and am growing 2 kins because i fear 1 or the other kin is going to fail..... stump problems. so i got 71 and 75 inches at day 30. its been slow going... but am feeling confident... sort of! of getting something worthwhile to the end. cant wait to see what happens in another 60 odd days!
im reading all these big numbers from you guys and feel like a tortoise... but im doing my best and am enjoying growing something i can see is now starting to look promising
