Hi from Whangarei, NZ. We had our RD1 weigh off this morning. AB won no question. Grown by Alan, Eve and Jason Burton. 721 kg (1589.5 lb, I think) Just so awesome to see. It was beautiful. Wouldn't have been surprised to see a small moon orbiting it.
Great inspiration!
Will post some photos on my diary.
Waiting to hear if they had any competition down the line.

Kenny Bob FL.

North Port, FL.

At RD1 giant pumpkin weighing off competition at my region
I am luck to win a price a " RD1 Gift Card $200 " for the heaviest pumpkin at RD1 Farm shop here

and I know I will not be the Grand price winner for $1000 gift card for the heaviest at RD1 NZ Outlet.

It has been a great experience for me this growing season.

Growing Giant pumpkin is becoming popular in NZ
each season we see new growers new faces here with heavier and heavier pumpkins hit the weighing scales

I personally like to say "Thank you "to all our senior giant pumpkin growers before us for all the time and effort, hard work selecting good potencial genetic, promising seeds for the future generation to a grow a bigger giant pumpkin, without our senior Giant pumpkin growers we will not have giant pumpkin grown a " Giant "
today Giant pumpkin seeds have great potencial, great genetic seeds.

Will be look forward to see a " biggest pumpkin " a new " world record " Giant Pumpkin,
Good Luck To all growers.
Kenny.

yes Kenny, you are correct there, if it wasnt for the wealth of knowledge given to us juniors from the senior growers, we would still be picking up our pumpkins with our arms to take to the shows. now that we have the knowledge or are able to get the knowledge...(am buying books very shortly)and the fact that most kiwis are very cleaver.... we are now on the scene of top end giant pumpkin growing.
inspiration is a great motivator ....... and AB has definitely proved we can, so the rest of us in kiwiland can now go forth an grow with confidence.
i wonder how many years it will take till we here export our premium seeds to the rest of the world?
