To add to the above the new record holder grew TWO (that's right 2) 162 pounders on the same plant.
A 162.0 John MacKinnon and a 162.0 Betty MacKinnon were #1 and #2 at Windsor,NS.
That's so incredible that I still expect to hear it is a typo.
Can someone confirm??

John Mackinnon and his 82yr young mother grew the WORLD RECORD field pumpkins here in CapeBreton NovaScotia. They were twins which both weighed 162lbs and were grown on 1 plant. He tells me he trained the plant to grow around the outside edge of his garden. They are awesome people and i'm sure he will be glad to give seed to anyone interested in growing it.We will probably never see something like that happen again.

I got to see both fruit at Windsor. Fantastic that they both came from the same plant. Quite an achievement.

Howdy folks, what Al and Carl have stated are pretty much correct however, Carl if my "81" year young mother reads this I may not be allowed to give you pollen in the future ;)
Yes both pumpkins had identical weights at 162 lbs, both grown on the 81 Wolf plant. One 21ft out on the main the other 7ft out off one of the first secondaries. Both were pollinated with the 145 McInnis about 10 days apart. This was my first attempt growing FP's so obviously I got very lucky. I didn't do anything special and didn't use any secret ingredients like maple syrup etc..
There‘s been a lot of requests for seeds already but I have not yet opened either pumpkin so please be patient if you are seeking some. I think the reverse crosses I made might be the superior seeds.I will do my best to accommodate those interested but am pretty busy between work, and my blueberry farm at the moment. I hope everyone understands and when I open them up will know what I have for seeds. Thanks

Hi,this is my first post, my daughter and I have been growing pumpkins in huntsville, Texas, despite the 110 degree summers and record drought. will have pictures available soon. I would be very interested in getting on the list for one or two of your seeds from the 162, or any promising seeds you might have . we are doing a public gardening demonstration right in front of our public library. thanks for any info on how to proceed. michael and Ilyana mansfield; huntsville Texas

Hi Vimes, more people might see your posting if you make a new post. Only the people looking at the world record field pumpkin will see your posting.
