Can you use the AG formula for estimating weight or is there another method.

the three way chart will get you in the ball park. I believe they will be a little lighter than the chart suggests

I asked this last year. Guess what I was told? Gently lift it up and put a bathroom scale under it. Now why didn't I think of that. I found I had to put on piece of plywood so it didnt sink into soil.

I worked last fall with MacKinnon and McInnis to come up with an equation for OTT to weight for FPs. I used all the OTT's on the GPC list and some others that John and Fenton could round up from growers they know. On average FPs of the same size OTT are lighter than AGs. I guess I could post the equation and see how it works this year. I was thinking some more testing would be good first, but might as well turn it loose and test it that way. I'll review it again tonight and post it then.

Cool, thanks. I know it will probably go lighter than ag's on the chart. I wish it was correct though because on the chart it estimates out to 40 lbs at day 14 averaging 6 lbs a day the last 4 days.

See the photo gallery under bathabitat to find the test version of the Field Pumpkin OTT table. Not showing up right the moment, but it should soon after review.
