Yep the average growth span for a field pumpkin is only 30-45 days. My issue with Field Pumpkins is Powdery Mildew late in the season

absolutely. i put one in about this time two years ago, maybe even later and it grew great and seemed to resist PM better. mine will be going in late this year as well--patch too wet.
