Hello.
I've decided to grow field pumpkins next year in May of 2018. And also how were the giant version of the store kind of field pumpkins were developed. Idk if the giant field pumpkins are heirloom type or hybrid. How many feet across from each other they have to grow and the same for in front of the pumpkin mound. Thanks

The current competition field pumpkins were developed by selective breeding just like Atlantic Giants. So they are derived from heirloom types. Your best source of seed is other growers, not store bought hybrids.

This year I am growing 4 plants in a 1300 square feet plot. I expect that they will fill it up by the end of the season. I have 2 on one side of the plot, 2 on the other and have the plants spaced out for plenty of room. I have read that some growers allow just 150 square feet per plant. I'm no expert, my biggest so far is 104.5#. Hopefully someone else has better advice.
