Ok so I take the seed from the pumpkin I have now that I'm wanting to keep the same characteristics going, plant a few next spring. So do I use a male and female flower from the same plant to get the pumpkin I am wanting or do I use males from different plants on different female s. All plants coming from the original pumpkin from this year. Thanks

Use pollen from the same pumpkin. Since your pumpkin this year was not a controlled pollination, you don't know what genetic mix it has. If the bees brought in pollen from several different males, you can get a genetic mix in one pumpkin. One grain of pollen completes one seed. Grow several plants and hope that one retained the characteristics you want. Pick the pumpkin that most closely matches what you want for the following year and use that one for seed.
