Wondered what to look for when deciding which fruit to pollinate. I’m guessing the best shape for size for a juvenile is long, rather than round.

I’m pretty sure that every female FP I’ve ever seen has been barrel shaped. Maybe that’s just the plants I’ve had though.

My experience is that the plant will throw the same type of females. I had 2 selfed 81 Wolf planted last year. One plant was all round babies and one plant was oblong. The oblong ones are the ones you want I believe.

I find the oblong fruit to be lighter than the barrel shape due to more hollow space and thinner meat. I am seeing my oblong fruit basically flattening out but it may just be the genetic of that particular seed. Last year was a cross between a barrel and oblong it maintained it's roundness and carried through out the fruit thus the kin went over a #100 and was thick meat. This year the fruit flattened out and was a thinner fleshed kin and went way light to measurement. Just my observations.
