I cannot think of any. But pruning like an AG and good soil, not letting the plant get stressed(too cold, heat over/under watering them can cause early ripening). Try to get good root system. FP.s seem to like more moderate heat.

I think Don crews... and check the marrow growers like Baggs. Marrows are the next closest plant what works for marrows should work for field pumpkins. Graham had a diary with pics of his 247 but I dont remember his screen name. I think it was Donkin? They mature faster and the nodes dont throw roots and sidevines as consistently as th AG's. They can mature in 50 days or so whereas the AG's the pumpkin will grow for around 100 days. So planting them a month or two later in the spring works. Or setting more than one blossom and getting more than one mature fruit over the course of the season may work also. (Whereas... with AG's thats never part of the plan!)

i love the silver splotches on FP leaves - it so SO unique! i had one spontaneously grow all on its own at the back of my otherwise AG patch one year; the males were HUGE as dahlias and i never did see a female on it to get one going. odd that if i didn't know about it, it did great! may have been from a 81 Wolf X SELF cross that open-pollinated and some deer ate it and the rest was history. eg

No the 247 Graham and 248 Timm of same year were damaged. Nothing close to them since.
