This paper tells me it may be important to try and set as many fruit as possible and delay foliar K application so as not to disrupt the K/N ratio as well as going over points made in the Russ Lanrdry paper " A Trip Down The Calcium Highyway".http://jxb.oxfordjournals.org/content/50/332/357.full.pdf

Correction here. Not "set as many fruit as possible" but "possibly set more fruit".

These and many other papers are most relevant. The keys in solving BER/BES are many. Chiefly growers who blow up fruit need to consider that these are solvable patch issues.
We know what causes BER/BES. Growers need to ensure the plant is never stressed by the often fatal FS condition of low distal Ca distribution. The need to understand Ca availability in the soil, its uptake, movement and distribution in the plant is paramount.
