Since I`ve been coming here to BP there seems to be alot more weighoffs and they have been put on Sundays . I will not attend a weighoff on Sundays !! I know what some of you are going to say , then don`t go. Would love to attend Bradley farms or Pumpkinville to meet some awesome growers. I`m not a HH so my voice my be small and yes there are only so many Saturdays in a month. Any other good ideas besides Sunday weighoffs ??? James

Ones during week don't usually work out because people have to work; that is why there is more Sunday weighoffs. Most work schedules allow Saturday and Sunday to be days off....
I can respect that someone reserves a day to not go, but. Getting around work schedules causes it.
Some that have to travel a goodly ways to weigh, often will show if there are Sat/Sun weighoffs in same area; less overall travel and expense to reach two.

James, we had the same situation here. A number of the Dutch growers will not attend Sunday weigh-offs either. So we started our own. On Saturday. Other than that, it could mean travelling quite a distance to find one that suits you.

Elmira has been on a Sunday since I started going there 10 years ago. Pumpkinville is on a Sunday to avoid conflicting dates with other weighoffs in the area, and because they cannot be on Columbus day weekend. When the dates shift in 2012, Pumpkinville will go back to the 2nd Saturday of October.

Only so many days in the span of weigh off time and sometimes its better to put it on a sunday than compete with an already established weigh off that will only take great growers away from what is being organized. I have heard pros and cons on both days just as it always does not suit everyone when trying to schedule a patch tour as you always getting people that can't go for one reason or another on saturday or sunday.

Thanks for the input . Weighoffs on the same day would force growers to pick which one to attend . Plus there are several weighoffs that are during the weekday and they still do pretty good. Pumpkin growers are very resilliant people. If they want to do something it happens.
