Connecticut's only Premium GPC weigh-off is still at the Durham Fair but due to winter storm damage we have a new location at the fair. The short directions are to enter from Rt 17 and turn left at the driveway that is bordered by 2 large stones. DO NOT GO DOWN THE HILL. Pictures and maps are on our website at www.team-pumpkin.org We look forward to seeing everyone there on 21 Sept 2011.

Im curious, why refer to the Durham weigh-off as Connecticuts only premium GPC weigh-off? I have attended Pennfield beach and also Durham and always considered both great weigh-offs with good people running them?

In this case “Premium site” is not referring to the caliber of the organizations but the level of GPC benefits. There are three levels and growers can publically find out what level each site is by looking them up on the weigh-off locations page: http://greatpumpkincommonwealth.com/territory.php
Simply select a site and look below their name on the details portion for the GPC benefit level, Ex.: http://greatpumpkincommonwealth.com/showsite.php?site=01-03 It is the grower’s responsibility to check the GPC level for each site they plan on attending.

Premium level, $300 (GPC) means those that weigh there get their stuff counted towards the Orange blazer, GOTY totals, Master Gardener, the premium prizes offered by the GPC (such as the $5k bonus for first 2000# pumpkin) etc. That's what the Premium means in Bart's posting....
