The 1st place pumpkin in the past has stayed on site.. This year if you place in the top three in the world, you and your pumpkin can travel to New York for the GPC festivities

George do we need to make it clear that the pumpkin stays unless it meets the top 3 in the world criteria?

Yes, they want the biggest pumpkin to stay on site.If it happens to be one of the top three in the world, It will be released to go to New York. If it is not a top three in the world, The pumpkin stays and we harvest the seeds and send them back to the grower.

Do you have to be a member of the IGPGA to enter a pumpkin.

Knowing my pumpkin won't make the top three..do I get a say and take my pumpkin back home to display at some of our local festivals, not competitions just Fall festivals. I've promised a local town they can display it and I don't want to open it up just yet so the Kin will last long enough.

Good question Joseph, I just realized the pumpkins are to stay on site. I also have committed to letting a local school display my pumpkin at their pumpkin patch. I would like to bring my pumpkin back home with me so that people in my home town can enjoy. Do we have to leave the pumpkins or can we bring them home.

Because I'm not sure George will see this I'll respond as I've been there.
I'm thinking unless you are FIRST PLACE you are free to take your pumpkin with you when you leave. They only keep the top pumpkin (but in exchange give you $5000).
